News Summary 2004
Travis Edmonson was on stage again in the month of March with two performances at the 15th Annual Phoenix Folk Traditions Music Festival.
Viewers in the Tucson area (as well as the wider internet community) got a chance to see him regularly when he took on duties as co-host of the popular chat show “Valley Views” with producer Sue Sandburg. Among the many musical guests he brought to the show were Dolan Ellis, Tim Wiedenkeller and daughter Ellen Edmonson Murphy.
Mid year saw the release of Folk Era's latest Travis Edmonson CD, “The Bud & Travis Latin Album.”
The year also included numerous personal appearances at a variety of performances, including those of The Kingston Trio, son Steve Edmonson and Dolan Ellis.
Unfortunately, in December, Travis Edmonson suffered a serious illness which caused him to go on oxygen full time, but he bounded back to do his television show as soon as the doctor allowed him out of bed.

VALLEY VIEWS IN JULY
There is only one edition of “Valley Views” this month. The popular TV chat show on Access Tucson Television was aired live on Thursday, July 1 at 8 pm MST.
Co-hosted by Sue Sandburg and Travis Edmonson, the program will be repeated on Monday, July 5 and Monday, July 12 at noon MST.
Viewers outside Tucson can access the show over the Internet via the following link.

TRAVIS EDMONSON WITH DAUGHTER ELLEN ON "VALLEY VIEWS"
The most recent edition of the popular TV chat show, “Valley Views” - co-hosted by producer Sue Sandburg and Travis Edmonson - aired on Access Tucson Channel 72 on Thursday, June 3 at 8 pm MST. A number of admirers were on hand to congratulate Sue on the 12th anniversary of her topical program.
Very special musical guest was Ellen Murphy, bi-lingual educator in Arizona, and talented blues guitarist and singer, who also happens to be Travis Edmonson's oldest daughter!
FRANK ROSS ON "VALLEY VIEWS"
Guitarist and singer Frank Ross, who has recently shared his story of meeting Travis Edmonson with visitors to this website(see Portraits Section) was the special guest of Sue Sandburg and Travis Edmonson on their chat show (first aired on Access Tucson Channel 72 Thursday, June 17) at 8 pm MST), with repeat broadcasts viat noon MST on Monday, June 21 and Monday, June 28.
EVENING OF JAZZ AT THE ARIZONA FOLKLORE PRESERVE
The Arizona Folklore Preserve and its diverse activities have long held a fond spot in Travis Edmonson's heart, and he attended a unique performance there on Saturday, June 19.
It was a night when the usual folk music and cowboy songs, for which the AFP is so well-known and popular, was put aside for an exciting evening of smooth jazz and blues from artist-in-residence Dolan Ellis
The exceptional concert featured Arizona's State Balladeer demonstrating a wonderful gift for this entirely different musical style - a special occasion for fans more familiar with his wonderful repertoire of story songs.

TRAVIS EDMONSON HOSTS
DOLAN ELLIS ON TV
The topical “Valley Views” chat show hosted by Susan Sandburg on the Access Tucson TV station is celebrating its 12th anniversary this year, and as part of the festivities, Sue has asked Travis Edmonson to co-host a series of shows with her, featuring good friends of his from the southwest entertainment scene.
First up was Arizona's Official State Balladeer, Dolan Ellis (see his own profile of Travis Edmonson in the Portraits Section).
The program was aired live on Channel 72 at 8 pm on Thursday, April 22, with repeat broadcasts on successive Mondays at noon local time.
TRAVIS EDMONSON AT
TUCSON FOLK FESTIVAL
On Saturday and Sunday, May 1 and 2, the 19th annual Tucson Folk Festival took place at El Presidio Park in downtown Tucson, and Travis Edmonson was on hand at the Arizona Folklore Preserve table to meet visitors and sign his new CD, “The Latin Album.”

On Thursday, May 6, Travis Edmonson co-hosted the topical Tucson TV chat show “Valley Views” with producer Sue Sandburg.
In addition to discussing political issues, a number of songs from the delightful singer Alana Sweetwater were featured. But the program's highlight had to be Travis Edmonson doing a Native American chant in appreciation of water, accompanying himself on drum.

The live broadcast was repeated on consecutive Mondays, May 10 and 17, at noon Mountain Standard Time (same as Pacific), and each could be viewed on Access Tucson Channel 72 around the world over the Internet

ON STAGE IN PHOENIX
Travis Edmonson will be on hand for a live appearance of the Jackie Payne / Steve Edmondson Band at The Rhythm Room in Phoenix on Friday, May 21. The show starts at 8 pm, and it will be a great chance for Arizona audiences to catch Travis Edmonson's son on stage with the terrific show that he and Jackie Payne put on.

AT KINGSTON TRIO CONCERT
Travis Edmonson will be in attendance at the Kingston Trio concert at Yavapai College Performance Hall in Prescott, Arizona on Saturday, May 22 at 8 pm. His long association with members of The Trio, old and new, dates back to college days with Nick Reynolds at the University of Arizona.

ON “VALLEY VIEWS”
On Thursday, May 20 popular Arizona performer, Tim Wiedenkeller, wasTravis Edmonson's special guest on Tucson Access Television.
With producer Sue Sandburg co-hosting, audiences locally and on the Internet were treated to a delightful musical hour . Tim Wiedenkeller is well-known as a dazzling bluegrass banjoist, but he also plays classical music, and will shortly be releasing an intriguing new CD of his own compositions in this genre for the instrument.
The chat included that new album, and another CD project as well as his work in scoring Hollywood films. Travis Edmonson is an unabashed admirer of the singer, guitarist, and even trumpet player, and enticed many entertaining stories and songs from his guest during the program.

LIVE APPEARANCE
Fans in the Phoenix, Arizona area had a special treat when Travis Edmonson gave two performances during the 15th Annual Phoenix Folk Traditions Music Festival on March 20 and 21.
Accompanied by Frank Ross, an especially entertaining program was offered for the rare event, and those who were fortunate enough to get tickets will be talking about the concert for years to come.

On March 11 Travis Edmonson was featured guest on Susan Sandburg's popular long-running live chat show “Valley Views” on the cable station, Access Tucson, Channel 72.
Repeats of the program telecast on following Mondays, March 15 and March 22 at noon.
In addition to talking about the new CD release of “The Latin Album,” and giving some background on that project, he also performed, accompanied by Frank Ross of the Street Minstrels, and some surprise guests, including Ted Ramirez, Michael Rondstadt and Gilbert Brown.
Songs included such favorites "Cloudy Summer Afternoon" and "Scotch and Soda," plus items from "The Latin Album" CD like "Sin Ti" and "La Bamba," the rousing finale to the show which had all musicians present singing and playing at full tilt.
